The importance of Digital Marketing to therapists and practitioners cannot be overstated. The fact is, the world is moving into a digital era. Most businesses that seek viability, have literally incorporated the digital marketing as a way of social networking.

Therapy is a business. And for it to be termed as a successful business, it needs to grow. Admittedly, the business is highly competitive. Furthermore, word- of – mouth referrals aren't enough to keep the business thriving anymore.

A survey by Brightlocal stated that at least 88% of consumers trust online customer reviews just as much as they would personal recommendations. That said, let us discuss the importance of digital marketing for practitioners and therapists.

Online Visibility

In the digital era, your visibility needs to extend beyond your office. You need to get your business known on social media platforms. You can increase online visibility through Search Engine Optimization, paid search advertising and Social advertising just to mention a few.

Online visibility helps to build your practice brand and name. Moreover, you will end up reaching approximately 2 billion people worldwide.

Positive Digital Reputation

A good reputation is literally the bane of your practices existence. A good reputation has the ability to create trust and a significant level of confidence in your customers. This also gives the company an edge in a highly competitive field, allowing it to stay ahead.

How can one achieve a good reputation? Through constant communication with customers, dealing with queries and delivering the product or service promised. Satisfied customers will hence, tell other people about your brand.  And social media will allow the word to spread faster than word of mouth.

Improve Patient Retention

In the healthcare industry, customers are usually the patients. Due to the digital world, our life has become more convenient. And not only at home, but even on business transactions. For example, now we can shop online and have the item delivered right to our doorstep.

The microwave fast system that has been sensitized to has reduced our level of patience significantly. Consumers now seek convenience in everything, including patience. Now clients prefer making appointments online, instead of having to wait to book an appointment.

Customer Engagement

The best part about the internet and social media is that you can interact with your clients. This includes both loyal and potential clients.

The two-way interaction allows you to find out what the clients want and need. Hence, you can tailor your products and services to suit them. Engaging clients and asking them about the practice makes them feel important. Thus, you are likely to create loyal clients.

Moreover, you can deal with queries that may arise immediately. Social media engagement will keep your clients on any changes in your business.

In conclusion, digital marketing is a very cost-effective method. This is as compared to traditional marketing that involves billboards, television advertisements and so forth.

However, you need to keep in mind the importance of conversions. Without it, all your marketing efforts will prove useless. Ensure that you keep an eye on conversion optimization to increase your level of success.

Just a quick story you may be able to relate to..

When I first started out as a practitioner, (some 28 years ago) I was so pleased to have finished all my training, all I wanted to do was just set up my practise and help make a difference.

I didn't even think about how I was actually going to get any clients, let alone manage to pay my bills so I could support myself and reach the people I could potentially help.

You see, probably like you, therapy and personal development were always and still are my passion.

Anyway, nobody in all the training I undertook had even mentioned how to let clients know I was there. In fact if I'd even thought about it at all it was almost a rude thing to actually try to as I saw it "sell myself"

The Build It & They Will Come Theory Of Gaining Clients ...

I was of the theory, like many other that the Build & They Will Come way of gaining clients worked

Myth Busting 1.... Sorry to Burst Your Bubble :)

Are You Stuck @ Stage 1? What's the old adege?? "If you build they will come" ... Its from The Field of Dreams Movie ...

Rule 1. Building things is hard work - (think of all the countless hours you've studied to become a professional maybe even all the sacrifices you've had to make) "If you build it, they will come" tells you as a practitioner that you use all of your resources and energy to get to the point where you are qualified and have actually set up your practise and thats it ... (well except of course actually seeing the clients and doing the work you studied for). and thats seems fair after all you've studied, set up your practise and are prepared to work with clients.

Rule 2. Building a sustainable practise is really tough. "If you build it, they will come" is a solace.  I'm sorry to tell you but building it ( as above) is only stage 1 in a long line of stages. It’s your foundation. But it’s no good having even a strong foundation if you aren't going to build a house on it ..

But that's not sort of fair I hear you say ... look at all the work I've done already (well thats what I sort of said!!)

Lets not look at the problem of not having many clients (after all that won't help anything)  .. lets look at how to change things for the better .. lets look at the solution ... >>>
