How Hypnotherapy can train your mind to choose to eat healthy foods

Are you fed up with losing weight and then putting it back on again?

That word - 'regime' - may be the culprit. It can have the same effect on you as the word 'routine'. These words suggest being hard on yourself. Making rules. Punishing yourself if you go 'off the rails'. It makes the whole business of getting to and maintaining a healthy weight seem like so much hard work. You can keep it up for a while, but then you just get exhausted!

And once you have fallen off, you are more likely to say to yourself, "What's the point? I'll never manage it!" And then you swing in the opposite direction and over-indulge yourself. Unfortunately, the consequences of that don't exactly make you happy either, do they?

Do you need more will power to eat healthy foods?

How do you get out of this? Do you just need more will power?

Of course, will power plays a vital role when it comes to making important decisions in your life. If you want to turn things around in your life, you know that you need will power to make the decision to start, and will power to persevere with all the steps required to implement and maintain the changes that you make. So developing your will power is clearly a useful thing to do.

How junk foods can overpower your will

But when it comes to choosing to eat healthy foods, you've already encountered the weak link in the will power approach. Something about that particular moment of choice is stronger than your will. Isn't that what it feels like? Almost as if you've been hijacked. As if the choice for the unhealthy food has been made behind your own back. How does this happen?

When you have a sudden strong desire for something that's right in front of you, it is like being hypnotized. You've heard of hypnotised people experiencing amnesia, 'forgetting' things that they know. This is what those deliciously attractive junk foods can do to you. They make you forget something very important - your future. In that moment, all you can think of is the satisfaction you will enjoy now. It's very hard to resist.

The good news is that you can deliberately use hypnosis to remember.

This Could Be The Reason You Can't Lose Weight ??

Helping You Lose Weight and do something more constructive with all the time and energy you put into thinking and trying to lose weight !!

OK that may be a little harsh .. but I’d really like you to sit down and think about how much mental and physical time and energy you have put into thinking about losing weight, trying to do something about losing weight and then feeling good or bad depending on how much weight you’ve lost or gained.

Is it more than 5% , 10%, 20% or even 50% of your waking time??

The problem is and you’ve probably heard this a million and 1 times before .. what you focus on is where your energy goes only thing is our brains don’t recognize negatives ..

As an example .. if I ask you not to think about pink elephants .. guess what you think about

you see in order not to think about pink elephants you first have to think about them !. Same with losing weight ..

Saying to yourself … I’m not going to eat xyz .. will focus your brain on exactly the thing you don’t want to focus on and because our brains are programmed to try and get what we need / want eventually you’ll end up reverting back to the things you are denying yourself… and it just goes round in an endless loop.

If you’ve been focused on losing weight for a long time your brain has learn .. literally that you go in spirals or loops .. yo’s as they are called.

As you know by now trying the latest diet will not work for long … it may well work short term .. when a new diet comes along your brain goes “hey the latest shiny shiny thing for me to lose some weight” and then you may lose some weight but guess what .. you end up putting it all and sometimes even more back on !

This is because of a few factors which I’ll post about later. but one of them is your mindset ..

I know you consciously want to lose weight otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this .. but there’s another part of your brain that has to be trained into making permanent lifestyle changes not short term stick a plaster on it and hope it stay there once you take the plaster off solutions

Anyway enough lecturing for today .. please keep an eye out for the next post were I’m going to give you some tips and ask you some questions about how you can change.
