Astonishing Power Of Positive Thinking

positive thinking.png with kimberley stapleton mind body soul spirit

What Living In The Moment Really Means And How It Can Contribute To Your Happiness

Living in the moment is easier than done. You could be physically present now, but your mind is elsewhere. It’s gone back to reminisce about the past. Or, it could be daydreaming about what the future holds. That’s not living in the moment.

If you want to live in the moment, you need to make a conscious effort to do so. It’s so easy to let your mind slip away. One minute you’re doing something really important on your computer, and the next you’re jetting off into the sunset, or you’re remembering what the beach felt like underneath your feet.

When something finally jolts you back into reality, maybe your phone rang or someone gave you a nudge, then you realise you’ve lost track of time. Life slipped by unnoticed while you were mentally away. Think about it – how can you be happy if you can’t even recall what happened a few minutes ago?

When we get hung up on the past, or when we’re too excited for the future, we lose the ability to feel happy in the present.

Setting goals for the future is important, but don’t ever underestimate the journey you need to take to get there. Sure, you may think you’ll finally be happy when you achieve your goal, but why wait until you get there? What happens if you don’t get there at all? Then you likely won’t ever be happy. You’ll end up bitter, and you’ll end up an unhappy person.

If you enjoy your journey, and you let yourself live in the present while working towards your goals, then you’ll be much happier.

You can practice mindfulness by observing what’s going on around you. Observe your surroundings right at this very moment. Think about what you see, hear, touch, smell, or feel. Use all your senses to truly live in the moment.

Once that moment’s gone, it’s gone forever. There’s no turning back the clock to relive that moment. No one’s invented a time machine yet, and it doesn’t look anyone ever will.

Focusing on the moment lets you see what really matters. The past doesn’t matter anymore, the future won’t matter until becomes the present. Being connected to the present will contribute greatly to your happiness, so make sure you don’t let it pass you by!

Most People Refuse to Acknowledge Their Anxieties

Most People Refuse to Acknowledge Their Anxieties

Hey, let's face it, we all like to put up a face around people we care about or respect. At the very least, we have some sort of public face that we try to maintain.

What is this public face? Well, we want people to think that we're strong. We want to give people the impression that we have our acts together. We don't want them to see our weaknesses.

We really are often embarrassed by a public display of shortcomings or other features that we think will make us look bad. This is why we put up with appearances.

We know, deep down inside that, most of the time, we can't trust appearances. People who seem to have the perfect families, the perfect careers, or the perfect lives are actually going through a tough time. But, since we maintain this public face, most people are simply left with the surface impression that everything is going well.

Here's the thing. You can get so caught up in the public appearance that you're putting up that you end up playing seriously damaging games with yourself. One of the worst things that you can do is to be in denial about your anxieties.

Now, let's get one thing clear. Everybody's got anxieties. We all have fears about the past. We have regrets, guilt and other negative emotions about things that have happened in the past.

We also have issues about the future. Sure, these things have not yet happened, but despite that fact, we can't help but worry about them.

We would like to gain some measure of control over our lives. And sadly, too many of us try to do this by simply trying to worry ourselves into some semblance of control.

Well, just as we can't control what happened in the past, we can't control the things that have yet to happen. And that's why, unfortunately, a lot of people struggle with anxiety. It can easily get out of hand.

While it's almost normal to assume that a certain level of worry is fine, it's very easy to overstep our bounds. It's really hard to find that thin line between "healthy worries" and obsessive anxieties that wear us down and pollute our relationships.

Given this background, it is no surprise that a lot of people refuse to acknowledge their anxieties. As far as the world is concerned, they're living perfect lives or something close to it. That's the public appearance they want to give.

And before you know it, they start believing their own press. They start believing the image that they portray to the rest of the world and that's why they are terribly surprised when they figure out that they have these anxieties that are eating them from within. Are you one of these people?

Well, the good news is that there is a solution to anxiety that doesn't involve brain altering chemicals. There is an all-natural solution that doesn't involve expensive psychotherapy counselling. I am, of course, talking about changing your belief system.

The best part to all of this is that you yourself trigger the changes. By simply working with how you currently process reality, you can get out from under the crushing weight of anxiety.

How to Break Down Your Stress to Get Rid of It

Stress.png with kimberley stapleton mind body soul spirit

When most of us are stressed, it is for a reason. We are stressed for instance because of our work, because of a deadline or because of debt. Knowing what is causing the stress helps us to at least contextualise it and gives us hope that someday we might escape its clutches, but for many of us that is not enough.

But if you break that stress down further and if you really get to know it, then you might just find that it starts to come apart and that it becomes much more manageable.

Make Your Stress Smaller

The trick is to break down your stress into specific things – into manageable chunks that you can deal with – and then to deal with the constituent parts.

So let’s take a look at one of the biggest culprits: work. If your main stressor is work, then chances are that you can break this down further to identify precisely what it is about work that stresses you out. Here are some examples of aspects of our jobs that make us stressed:

·        Looming deadlines

·        Angry bosses

·        Unpleasant colleagues

·        Uncomfortable workspaces

·        Busy, long commutes

·        Things you would rather be doing

·        Wearing work clothes

·        Making calls

·        Speaking in public

·        Having too much to do

All these things can make us feel stressed about our jobs and most likely there are a number of these things playing on your mind.

But now you’ve broken it all down and you know the specifics, you should find it becomes much easier to start dealing with the problems individually.

So for instance: if you have a colleague you don’t like, you could ask to be moved to another part of the office. Likewise, if your workspace is uncomfortable, you could speak to HR about getting a new chair, or you could put a plant on your desk. Don’t like the long commute? How about looking into a lift share, or finding an alternative route. Workload too big? Then again, speak to someone and ask to have it shared!

Likewise, you might find that other ‘big’ stresses in your life can be made easier when you break them down into their smaller constituents. Stressed about debt? Then perhaps one aspect of that is not being able to afford things – in which case writing a budget could help. Another aspect could be worrying about your credit score, in which case you could talk to your bank manager or a debt advisor.

If this is something that affects you and would like to book a counselling or hypnotherapy session

How to Overcome Anticipatory Anxiety

Anticipatory Anxiety.png with kimberley stapleton mind body soul spirit

Calm down your worries about future events with Hypnotherapy

Is most of your worrying just anticipatory anxiety about the future, rather than concerns about what's actually going on now?

Do you get eaten up with dread about upcoming events and how they will turn out?

Your ability to imagine a goal in life, and to work out detailed plans to deal with obstacles, is a truly valuable resource. Deciding what you'll do if things go wrong is key to effective planning. It would be downright silly to assume everything will always go smoothly. Flights will be delayed, rain will fall on garden parties, people will forget what they were going to say, tomato sauce will get spilled over you...

It happens to everyone.

Too much thinking leads to anticipatory anxiety

The trouble is, when you spend too much time thinking too closely about everything that could go wrong, the famous mind-body connection goes into overdrive. Your worrying thoughts can trigger the actual physical emotions that would accompany those unfortunate events. Your heart rate rises, adrenaline floods into your bloodstream, and your body gets ready to face what it believes is a real and present danger.

When really it's all in your imagination.

Now obviously, it doesn't make sense to say you should just stop preparing for future events, and planning for negative eventualities, altogether. That would be likely to bring you some perfectly real (as opposed to imaginary!) difficulties.

What's needed is a way to think about eventualities (good or bad) calmly. A way to calm down any emotional response that gets triggered, so you can stay detached, make sensible plans, and then get on with your life.

And hypnosis is a brilliant way for you to do just that.

Hypnotherapy can help you calm down unnecessary fears

A Hypnotherapy session that will train your unconscious mind to instinctively calm down anxious thoughts about the future.

As you relax and listen , you'll notice that you

  • find yourself becoming much more relaxed about life in general

  • learn how to take command of your emotional responses

  • become more and more skilled at calming and quieting troubling thoughts

  • are no longer at the mercy of unpleasant emotions

  • can think much more clearly and effectively about helpful ways to prepare for upcoming events

  • enjoy life so much more.

Overcome Obstacles

What to Do When Obstacles Seem Like Too Much

Coming out of 2021, you probably know what it's like to feel overwhelmed by the sheer size or amount of obstacles on your plate. Although obstacles are necessary to help you grow, they certainly can be challenging, leading you to feel inadequate, distraught, and overwhelmed.

Luckily, there are some things you can do to help manage the obstacles in front of you. In this tutorial, I'm going to tell you three things to do when obstacles seem like too much. Let's get started.

1.     Take a deep breath.

Whenever you begin to feel overwhelmed by obstacles, your body will likely show some physical signs. For example, your chest may become tight, breathing become more rapid, and body start to shake. Although these physical signs are not in and of themselves dangerous, they can pose health risks on down the line, and they aren't comfortable at the moment.

Instead of dwelling on the obstacles you feel overwhelmed by, simply take a deep breath. Take a couple deep breaths if you need to. Simply breathe in and out to relax your body and give it some much needed oxygen.

Breathing deeply will lessen the feelings of anxiety that come with feeling overwhelmed by your obstacles. Breathing deeply is also just good for your overall well being. Aim to make your exhale longer than inhale for optimal results.

2.     Focus on what you can control.

Whenever people feel overwhelmed by their obstacles, it is likely because they feel out of control with their life. As humans, we want to control everything. Obstacles remind us that we simply are not as in control of our lives as we would like to be.

If this is why you feel overwhelmed by your obstacles, focus on something you can control instead. This may include your water intake, the food you put in your body, how you present yourself, reading a book, or anything else you have control over.

Focusing on what you can control will take away the immediate signs of anxiety associated with obstacles. It may also boost your confidence, sense of self love, and willingness to invest in your own life.

3.     Look at the positives.

Finally, the last way to help manage feelings of stress from your obstacles is to look at the positives. No matter how bleak the obstacle or situation may seem, there is always a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel. Focus on the positives to relax your mind.

One positive of any obstacle is that it challenges you to become a better person. If you can't think of any other positive of your situation, fall back on this one: the obstacle is turning you into a stronger and more capable person.

Chances are, however, there are other benefits as well. For example, if you got laid off at work, you can think that you now have more time to focus on your personal interests and hobbies. Though this won't take away the sting of getting laid off, it will make the sting slightly more tolerable.

Whenever you look at the positives, you aren't just rejecting the bad. Instead, you have a much more realistic and adult view of the situation, which involves both positives and negatives.

Final Thoughts

Next time you feel overwhelmed by your obstacles, take a deep breath, focus on what you can control, or look at the positives. Better yet, try a combination of all three techniques to help you calm yourself down and approach the obstacle more rationally once again.

Mindset Transformation

mindset.png with kimberley stapleton mind body soul spirit

Have a Vision, Not a Goal!

If you want to accomplish as much as you possibly can, the most important thing to get right is the vision or goal you have to begin with. This is essentially the same as setting your trajectory and without a trajectory, you don’t stand much chance of getting to your destination. Unfortunately, many people don’t know how to correctly write goals and this can end up preventing them from standing any chance of success in their chosen field.

And actually, if you’re setting off to write a goal then you’re starting out with the wrong intent to begin with. Because ‘goals’ aren’t really as useful as visions – which is what we’re going to explore here.

The Difference Between a Goal and a Vision

So what’s the difference between a goal and a vision? Essentially, a goal is something that you write down and that is very concrete and simple. A goal may for example be to ‘lose 10lbs in two months’. That’s a goal but it’s also not as effective as a vision designed to the same end.

This same ambition posed as a vision rather than a goal would instead be more the idea of being in shape. You might visualise yourself looking ripped and feeling healthy. You might imagine yourself going for jogs on the beach with your top off in summer and feeling great about yourself. That’s your vision.

A vision can also be an image of yourself standing in an office block and looking out over the world, knowing that you’re in a position of great importance and power.

This is a much more abstract concept that nevertheless helps you to get a picture of what you want and what the emotion behind that goal is.

Why Visions Work Better Than Goals

So why are visions more successful than goals?

For one, goals are not nearly flexible enough. If you have a goal, then this gives you one thing you’re trying accomplish and only one idea of how to get there. If it doesn’t go to plan then you have the freedom to change the steps you’re going to take to get there, or to bend them to fit your current lifestyle, plans and free time.

Another reason visions work better is because they have more emotional content. When you visualise something, the same regions fire in your brain as though it was actually happening. This in turn means that you can actually trigger the emotion as though it were happening. And it’s this emotion we can use to motivate ourselves to go through with plans!

Personal Transformation Mastery

How Increased Confidence Can Help You Get What You Want

This might sound like the cheesy-kind of advice your parents might have given you, but it really is true that confidence can get you pretty much whatever you want. That and being yourself.

If you want to get a date, succeed in your career or otherwise take any aspect of your life to the next level, then boosting your confidence is one of the best ways to accomplish that. Here’s why…

What Confidence Really Means

If you have ever met an alpha male, or a woman who just seems to have everything under control, then you might have noticed that they are usually very confident. The truth is that the whole reason they appear so successful is that confidence. That’s because confidence sends a powerful signal – it says ‘I consider myself to be a catch’.

Speaking in evolutionary terms, confidence suggests that you are a good potential mate, or a superior competitor. Even if someone is short, poorly dressed and unappealing – if they are supremely confidence then it will seem as though they know something you don’t. The assumption is that they must have a reason to be that confident.

And thus we instantly assume that this person is somehow our superior: that we should try to impress them, or try to be more like them. That’s why we gravitate toward confident people, want to date them and want to be liked by them.

A lot of people don’t realise the importance of confidence and they think it is enough to be nice. They assume that by acting nice, they will get people to like them and they can that way overcome their looks, their stature, or their status.

But if you don’t have any self-confidence and you act very nice, then this can actually backfire: it starts to seem as though you want something and that you are being a creep in order to get it.

Conversely, if you act a little less needy, if you can show yourself to be highly capable and impressive and then you chat to someone in a friendly and open manner… then people will be won over by your charm and your appeal. This niceness seems much more genuine because you appear like you don’t need help from everyone.

So guys: stop trying to win the girl by being nice.

Employees, stop trying to get the job by being self-deprecating.

Act like you know your worth and then layer niceness on top of that. That is the winning combination!

How Distractions Prevent You from Success

distractions.png with kimberley stapleton mind body soul spirit

You probably get distracted by something a thousand times a day.

Most people get distracted every few minutes and have to return to the task that they were working on. People with ADHD can get distracted for an hour or more without even realizing that they were off task.

But these kinds of distractions are not the ones that are keeping you from success. There are other distractions in your life and you are probably going to have to get rid of them to achieve your goals. In this article, we are going to discuss four distractions that are preventing you from achieving the success you want.

Online Socializing

The first distraction that we will be discussing is online socializing. If you are like most people, you waste an incredible amount of time on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and various other social networks that do nothing for you except tell you what your friends had for lunch.

Social media can be important to your success. If you are using social platforms to build a group of people that could buy something from you later, then it is fair to spend some time on social media. Otherwise, limit yourself.

Friends and Family

Your friends and family may be distracting you from success. It is perfectly fine to spend time with friends and family, but if you are constantly committed to helping them out, going places with them or putting off your work for other people, then you need to pull back and realize that your success is just as important as your relationships.

Power Lunches

In corporate American, power lunches are definitely one of the ways that work relationships are built and deals are brokered. But if your power lunches and other functions are not contributing to your personal success, then you need to stop worrying about them and focus on what is really important.

The Siren Song of Possessions

Finally, you want to avoid the siren song of things. This is the urge to spend money on the things that you think you need in order to be successful. Maybe you think that if you had a faster computer you could get more done. In most cases, that simply isn’t true. You don’t need to spend money on things to become successful and you may need to make some short-term sacrifices in order to achieve your goals.

Dealing with a Nervous Breakdown

nervous breakdown.png with kimberley stapleton mind body soul spirit

Deep relaxation can ease your stressed brain and give you back a sense of control and perspective

If you feel close to having a nervous breakdown right now you are probably feeling like you have hit rock bottom.

Many people who are close to a nervous breakdown feel a million miles from their real self.

Feelings of anger, negativity, exhaustion and anxiety are probably overwhelming you and your ability to lead a 'normal' life and have 'normal' relationships is no doubt proving tough.

The right approach can help quickly

Nervous breakdowns tend to happen due to a demanding lifestyle, stress, or as a result of dealing with trauma. Stress and anxiety can often lead to depression and feelings of being unable to cope.

You may feel at the moment that everything is a struggle and there is nothing positive in your life. However, treating a breakdown in the right way will allow you to come out the 'other side' of this an even better person.

Here's how I can help you…..

Relaxation is the key to recovery

Stopping for a while and taking time to relax when you feel things are getting too much will gradually allow your body and mind to start to feel refreshed and re-energized again. Regular relaxation will also help 'reset' your sleeping patterns which will help reduce your stress levels greatly.

A Hypnotherapy session will quickly make you feel calmer and happier, getting you back to the 'real you'. Being relaxed and knowing how to cope with stress and challenging situations will allow you to approach the future in a calmer and more confident way.

Getting back to the 'real' you

You can just imagine yourself now with the feeling of this renewed energy and confidence. With this, you will begin to enjoy those little things in life such as meeting up with a friend for a coffee, going shopping or spending time with your family; just like you used to.

When you feel more relaxed you will also be able to put up boundaries and set yourself limits so you don't have to deal with a breakdown again. As you start to feel calmer, things you currently find difficult to do will slowly become easier.

Just remember that right now you have just gone off track slightly and you just need to stop for a while to return back to the 'real you'. With this rest and revitalisation you will begin to see a brighter future.

Awaken Your True Calling

6 Tips for Finding Your True Passion in Life

There comes the point in everyone's life when they feel the intense urge to find your passion. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to see, and many of us become frustrated because we aren't where we genuinely want to be in our lives. If you feel frustrated by not being able to find your passion, here are seven useful tips to help you figure out your passion.

 Do Many Things

While it may feel a bit overwhelming to have a lot of interests, it is one of the most crucial steps to figuring things out. It is much better to have a lot of options and interests than none at all. Make a list of everything that you are interested in and focus on two to start. If you realize it’s not what you thought, scratch it off the list and move on.

 Stay True to Yourself

Stop doing what you hate just because you’ve already invested time and money into the pursuit. The secret to getting unstuck is to take the steps toward doing what you love. Don’t feel you have to be confined to a box and stop worrying about being defined by a single thing.

 Focus On Yourself

You can’t continue to compare your beginnings to someone else’s middle. You will never find your true passion in life if you are always watching and comparing your journey to the life of those around you. Focus on you and where you are in your journey and stop worrying about everyone else around you.

 Let Go of Fear

Fear will convince you to pass up opportunities because you can’t see past taking the first step. For you to find your passion, you will need to make big leaps of faith. Let go of that fear and dive in head first.

 Be Still

We tend to get confused with all the ideas, thoughts, and emotions that are swarming through our minds, leaving us to become frustrated because we can't see to figure our life out. Sometimes, we need just to do nothing to realize that what we are passionate about has been in front of us the entire time.

 Forget About the Money

Money shouldn't be the determining factor in what you do with your life. When you bring money into the equation, you will always end up doing something that you're not passionate about. When you are genuinely excited about something, you'll figure out how to make a living from it.

Finding your true passion in life will take time. However, by following these six tips, you will find your passion before you know it.
